ELECTRICAL &
MECHANICAL ISOLATION
COURSE 420: 1 DAY: Max 8 Candidates
This course is designed to provide real evidence that personnel can safely carry out electrical and mechanical isolations. Repeating the course at regular intervals ensures that personnel retain the essential knowledge and continue to use best practices. For companies that prefer the course on-site, site-specific company documentation and procedures can be incorporated into the course, The course
also explores the very different issues associated with the dangers of moving machinery and the dangers of electricity.
PARTICIPANTS
The course is aimed at engineering / maintenance personnel who need to perform, supervise or check electrical and mechanical isolations.
COURSE PRESENTATION
Each candidate is given a series of demonstration training rigs on which to practice electrical and mechanical isolations. These simulate the most common scenarios that are likely to be encountered in industrial situations. Comprehensive course notes are provided.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
On completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the dangers associated with electricity and moving machinery
- understand the difference between mechanical and electrical isolations
- comply with company procedures and complete associated documentation
eg: permit to work, risk assessments, method statements, etc - perform safe mechanical isolations in a range of common industrial scenarios
- correctly and safely test for dead in single and three phase systems
- perform safe electrical isolations in a range of common industrial scenarios
- correctly secure isolation points.
Successful completion of the course leads to the award of the Technical Training
Solutions competence certificate 420: Electrical Isolation.
